Welcome

city-nashvilleSGMP is a nonprofit professional organization of persons involved in planning government meetings, either on a full or part-time basis, and those individuals who supply services to government planners. Our objectives are to improve the quality and promote the cost effectiveness of government meetings by improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and management of government meetings through education, training, and industry relationships.

To be affiliated with a professional trade association is even more important today than ever before. This stands true for the government planner as well as the suppliers who make up hotels, CVB’s and other related industry services.

The Tennessee Chapter of SGMP offers monthly educational opportunities, as well as national, regional and chapter education conferences to its members.  SGMP is the only national organization dedicated exclusively to improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and management of government meetings through education, training, and industry relationships, and to improve the quality and increase the cost effectiveness of government meetings.

Monthly “working lunch” meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month, and are currently being held in the Nashville, Tennessee area.  Planners interested in enhancing their skills by learning the latest techniques for planning successful meetings, suppliers working in the government market and those interested in further their interests through networking opportunities should plan to attend. A full meeting and event calendar is available on this website.

Membership is available to full or part time employees of federal, state, county, and city governments. Associations of governmental employees, government agencies, and those who supply services to government planners are also eligible for membership. Suppliers applying for membership are required to join with an eligible government or contract planner. However, planners can join independently at any time. SGMP is a nonprofit professional organization, and is managed by a national board of directors and officers elected by the membership, and an Executive Director.  For more information about SGMP as an organization, visit the national web site at www.sgmp.org.
